You crawl out of a dusty vault into a world that hates you, where every conversation could end in bullets or barter—stats matter, but dumb luck matters more.

Game Overview
Man, Fallout on MS-DOS—where do I even start? You wake up in this grimy vault, pick some weird stats (I always dump Charisma, no regrets), and suddenly you're chucked into a wasteland where everything wants to kill you. Or maybe you want to kill everything. Or maybe you just wanna talk your way out of trouble while wearing a ridiculous leather jacket.
The first time I played, I accidentally pissed off some raiders by picking the wrong dialogue option and got my face melted by a plasma rifle. Classic. But that’s the magic of it—every dumb decision or clever trick actually sticks. Steal a guy’s gun mid-conversation? Sure. Blow up an entire town because you got bored? Why not. The game just shrugs and rolls with it.
And the atmosphere? That grainy, retro-future aesthetic mixed with the creepiest ambient desert music makes you feel like you’re actually crawling through the ruins of civilization. Combat’s clunky in that old-school turn-based way, but lining up a perfect headshot with a hunting rifle never gets old. Just watch out for the deathclaws. Seriously.
If you’ve got the patience for a game that doesn’t coddle you, Fallout’s still one of the best ways to get lost in a world that feels alive—or at least, alive-ish, in that post-nuclear kinda way.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
