Fantasy World Dizzy came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Codemasters. It was one of those side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home on a beige desktop computer, with its bright colors and simple controls. You played as Dizzy, an egg-shaped hero, in a quest that mixed exploration with item-based puzzles.

You guide Dizzy through a series of interconnected screens, jumping over obstacles and collecting objects like keys, buckets, and magic seeds. The main goal is to rescue Daisy, Dizzy’s girlfriend, by solving environmental puzzles and occasionally fighting enemies with a short-range attack. The game requires careful inventory management and a lot of backtracking, as you often need to carry items to specific locations to progress. It can feel slow and deliberate, with some frustrating moments due to limited lives and precise jumps.
