Game Overview
I picked up The Fast and the Furious on PSP back in 2006, a time when handheld racing games were really starting to push what the system could do. It was developed by Eutechnyx and published by Namco Bandai, and it stood out as one of the few street racing titles on the platform that tried to capture the vibe of the movies.
You control a street racer working your way up through the underground scene, taking on jobs and rivals to earn cash and reputation. The main goal is to build the fastest car and dominate the circuit, which involves a lot of illegal street races and police chases. Key mechanics include nitrous boosts for sudden bursts of speed, and a detailed car customization system where you upgrade engines, bodywork, and performance parts. The pacing is fairly quick, with events unlocking as you progress, though some of the drift-heavy courses can be tricky to master at first. It feels like a solid, no-frills arcade racer that delivers exactly what you expect from a portable adaptation of the franchise.
