Play Fields of Glory Online
Command armies, maneuver units, and outsmart opponents in this tactical strategy game set in historical battles.
Fields of Glory came out in 1993 from MicroProse, one of those deep strategy games that really defined the MS-DOS era. It didn't rely on flashy graphics; it was all about the decisions you made on a battlefield that felt alive and unpredictable. You got the sense that the developers understood what made historical warfare tense and cerebral, not just a click fest.
You take command of entire armies, maneuvering regiments of infantry, cavalry, and artillery across large, detailed maps. The main goal is to outthink your opponent, using terrain and unit formations to break their morale or destroy them outright. Key mechanics include managing your command points to issue orders and dealing with the fog of war, which often hides enemy movements until the last moment. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, but the difficulty is sharp; a mispositioned unit can be routed quickly, causing a chain reaction. It feels like a constant, high stakes puzzle where history hangs on every command.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
