I picked up FIFA 07 for the Nintendo DS back in 2006, a portable version of the bigger console game from EA Canada. It was one of the few serious football titles on the handheld at the time, trying to fit a full experience onto the dual screens. It didn't try to be flashy, just functional, a solid option for matches on the go.

You control all eleven players, switching with the shoulder buttons to make tackles or start attacks. The main goal is to win matches across various leagues and cups, building a career in manager mode if you want. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen for set pieces, like aiming free kicks or directing penalty power, and the lower screen displays a radar map and substitution menus. The pacing is quicker than simulation titles, a bit arcade-like, and defending can feel loose, especially during aerial duels. It feels satisfying to string a play together and score, even with the hardware limitations.
