It’s a weirdly fun mashup—you’ve got Akira’s precise karate next to someone like Honey from Fighting Vipers, who fights in what’s basically a rollerblading bodysuit. The moves feel weighty but fast, and there’s this satisfying crunch when you land a good hit.

At first, I kept picking the Virtua Fighter crew out of habit, but the Fighting Vipers characters grew on me—their armor-breaking mechanic adds this extra layer of chaos. The stages are pure Saturn-era arcade goodness, too, all bright colors and weird floating platforms. If you’ve ever wanted to pit a sumo wrestler against a dude with extendable robot arms, this is your game.
