Game Overview

Fighting Force 64 came out in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, developed by Core Design. It was one of those 3D beat 'em ups that tried to bring the arcade experience home, though it arrived a bit late in the N64's life. You could tell the hardware was being pushed, sometimes in ways it wasn't quite ready for.

You pick from four characters, each with their own moves, and fight through levels packed with enemies. The main goal is to clear each area, usually by beating up everyone in sight, and occasionally you face a boss. You can pick up objects like crates or fire extinguishers to throw, and there's a simple combo system for stringing attacks together. The pacing is fast, sometimes messy, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels like a rough but earnest attempt to translate arcade chaos onto the console.
