Play Fighting Masters (Japan) Online

Pick a roided-out warrior—minotaur, giant knight, who knows—and mash buttons until someone gets launched across the screen. Chunky sprites, dumb-fun physics, and sound effects that sound like a dumpster falling down stairs.

Game Overview

Fighting Masters (Japan) is one of those weird, wonderful Genesis fighters that somehow slipped under the radar. You start by picking between these absurdly jacked warriors—like a dude with literal bull horns or a knight who swings a sword twice his size—and then just start wailing on each other. It’s not exactly technical, but there’s something hilarious about watching these overdesigned brutes elbow-drop each other with ridiculous animations.

The moves are simple (think three buttons and a lot of enthusiasm), but every character feels completely different. My first pick was the minotaur guy, who basically just charges across the screen like a freight train. The pixel art has that chunky, early ‘90s charm, and the sound effects sound like someone hitting a trash can with a bat—in the best way possible. It’s janky, unbalanced, and absolutely knows it. If you’re into fighters that prioritize personality over precision, this one’s a riot.
