Fire Power was one of those games that came out in 1988 for MS-DOS, published by MicroIllusions. It fit right in with the kind of action titles you'd see back then, straightforward and built around a clear, aggressive idea. You didn't get a lot of story; you just got thrown into the fight.
You control a small, nimble ship tasked with clearing each screen of enemy forces. The main goal is straightforward: destroy everything that moves while avoiding their fire. Movement is grid-based; you fly screen by screen, blasting foes with your forward shots and collecting power-ups that occasionally appear. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as enemy patterns grow more complex. It feels tense and immediate, like every move could be your last.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
