Game Overview
Firo & Klawd is one of those weird, charming MS-DOS gems where you play as an ape and a cat—NYPD’s most unconventional crime-fighting duo. The first thing that hits you is the absurdity: Firo’s this hulking orange gorilla in a cop uniform, while Klawd’s a scrawny alley cat with serious attitude. They bicker constantly, but somehow have to work together to bust a counterfeit ring flooding the city with fake cash.
Gameplay’s a wild mix—one minute you’re jumping across rooftops in isometric view, the next you’re blasting thugs in clunky-but-fun first-person sections. The controls take some getting used to (this is the ‘90s), but there’s something oddly satisfying about Klawd clawing his way up fire escapes or Firo just… punching problems away. The humor’s cheesy in that old-school way, with dialogue that’s either hilarious or painfully corny depending on your mood.
It’s janky, inventive, and exactly the kind of experimental oddity that could only exist in the mid-‘90s. If you’ve got a soft spot for weird retro games, this one’s worth digging up.
