Firo & Klawd was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection by BMG Interactive Entertainment. It came out during a time when PC games were experimenting with mixing genres, and this one stood out for its oddball pairing and split gameplay styles.
You control Firo, a gorilla police officer, and his feline partner Klawd, switching between them to navigate levels. The main goal is to chase down criminals across city rooftops in side-scrolling platforming segments, then engage in first-person shooting sections to take out foes. The platforming requires precise jumps and timing, while the shooting feels deliberately awkward, adding to the challenge. The two characters bicker constantly through text dialogue, which gives the action a comedic, chaotic tone. Playing it feels like managing a dysfunctional buddy cop movie where nothing goes as planned.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
