Game Overview

Formula One: Built to Win came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Seta Corporation. It was one of the few racing games on the NES that tried to blend arcade action with a career progression system, a concept that was still finding its footing on the console at the time.

You control a driver starting with a slow road car, and the goal is to earn enough money through races to buy faster vehicles, eventually competing in Formula One machines. The game uses a behind-the-car perspective, and you must manage fuel consumption and tire wear during each event. Races take place on tight, obstacle-filled city circuits where contact with walls or other cars can easily spin you out. It feels tense and demanding, requiring careful throttle control and memorization of each track's hazards.
