Game Overview

Gangs of London came out on the PSP in 2006, developed by London Studio and published by Sony. It was one of those open-world games that tried to bring a little bit of that console freedom to the handheld, letting you roam a scaled-down version of the city between missions. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but for a portable title, it packed in a surprising amount of stuff to do.

You control a member of one of several rival gangs, working your way up from the bottom by taking on jobs. The main objective is to complete missions, things like car thefts, armed robberies, or turf wars, to earn respect and money. Signature mechanics include recruiting gang members to follow you into fights and using the environment during brawls, grabbing bottles or chairs to swing at enemies. The pacing is fairly quick, with short missions suited to portable play, though the difficulty can spike during some of the more chaotic shootouts. It feels scrappy and immediate, like you're always one wrong move away from a massive street fight.
