Game Overview
Gangs of London came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2006, developed by London Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was one of those open-world crime games that felt ambitious on a handheld, trying to capture some of that Grand Theft Auto energy but in a more condensed, portable form. For its time, it was a solid attempt to bring a full city experience to the PSP, even if it didn't quite have the polish of its bigger console cousins.
You control a member of one of London's street gangs, working your way up from small jobs to taking over rival territory. The main objective is to dominate the city by completing missions, stealing cars, and engaging in turf wars. Signature mechanics include a strategic overhead view for planning gang movements and real time brawls and shootouts when conflicts erupt. Missions are generally short and straightforward, though the difficulty can spike during some of the larger fights. It feels like a scrappy, chaotic dash through the city's underworld, where even a simple carjacking can quickly spiral into a full blown street war.
