You wrestle with janky controls while dodging enemies that pop in randomly—even the basic platforming feels unfair. A rough relic for NES collectors who enjoy trainwrecks.

Game Overview

Ganso Saiyuuki is one of those NES games that makes you question how it ever got published. It's supposed to be an action RPG based on Journey to the West, but the controls are so stiff that even basic jumps feel like a gamble. The graphics are a mess of clashing colors, and the enemies just sort of... appear out of nowhere.

I gave it a shot because I love weird retro games, but this one’s more frustrating than fun. You’ll spend most of your time fighting the awkward hit detection rather than actual demons. It’s got a reputation for a reason—probably best left to hardcore masochists or collectors who enjoy bad games ironically.
