Game Overview

Ghost Rider on the PSP came out in 2007, developed by Climax Group and published by 2K Games. It was part of that wave of handheld action games that tried to bring a console feel to a smaller screen, and it arrived around the same time as the Nicolas Cage film, though it follows its own story. The PSP had a solid library of action titles, and this one aimed to capture the anti-hero’s violent, supernatural style in portable form.

You control Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider, and your goal is to battle through demonic forces while managing the curse that binds you. The gameplay mixes combat on foot with high-speed motorcycle sections. On foot, you use hellfire chains to attack groups of enemies, building up combos and a special meter that unleashes more powerful attacks. During bike segments, you race along fiery highways, dodging obstacles and taking down enemies with your bike’s weapons. The pace is fairly relentless, and the difficulty can spike during some of the more chaotic fights. It feels like a straightforward, aggressive action game that doesn’t overcomplicate things, letting you lean into the destructive fantasy of being Ghost Rider.
