Game Overview
Golden Axe Warrior feels like Sega’s answer to Zelda—if Zelda had more axes and a grudge against giants. You start off in Firewood (yes, that’s the kingdom’s actual name) where everything’s gone to hell because some traitor handed over nine magic crystals to Death Adder, a giant who clearly skipped villain subtlety class. Now monsters are everywhere, and it’s up to you to track down those crystals hidden in dungeons.
The overworld’s packed with enemies, weird little secrets, and weapons you’ll stumble on while poking around. Dungeons play like classic top-down puzzle boxes—fight through rooms, grab keys, figure out which block to push, and try not to get wrecked by the boss at the end. There’s something satisfying about finding a new spell or weapon and immediately testing it on the nearest skeleton. Just don’t expect the game to go easy on you—those giants aren’t messing around.
