Game Overview
Great Golf on the Sega Master System is one of those old-school golf games that somehow nails the tension of lining up a shot. You’ll spend way too much time adjusting your angle and power, second-guessing whether that tree on the left is actually in your way (spoiler: it is). The greens are brutal—miss by a pixel and your ball rolls straight into a bunker like it’s got a personal grudge against you.
What I love is how the game doesn’t hold your hand. Doglegs curve just enough to mess with your depth perception, and the water hazards? Pure evil. But nailing a perfect hook shot around a corner feels stupidly satisfying. Just don’t get cocky—the wind actually matters here, unlike some modern golf games where it’s basically a suggestion.
Eighteen holes might not sound like much, but by the back nine, you’ll be white-knuckling every putt. It’s the kind of game where you yell "FORE!" at your own TV.
