GunForce is basically Irem’s take on Contra, but with way more explosions and a title that sounds like an 80s action movie. "Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island" — I mean, come on, that’s just glorious. You’re dropped onto an island crawling with enemy soldiers, mechs, and turrets, blasting through everything with a spread gun that feels way too satisfying. The controls are tight, and the levels throw some wild set pieces at you, like jumping between helicopters mid-air. It’s not as polished as Contra, but the sheer chaos makes up for it. Just don’t expect to survive long without memorizing where the power-ups hide.
