HacX is like DOOM’s rebellious little sibling—the one that listened to too much industrial music and doodled cyberpunk graffiti in its notebook. You play as a hacker who somehow ends up with a big gun (and then bigger guns) shooting through corporate offices and AI-infested space stations. The pixel art has that perfect '90s crunch, and the weapons? Ridiculous in the best way. I still grin every time the Disruptor Cannon melts something into neon goo.
It started as a DOOM mod but grew into its own thing—you can tell the devs had fun with it. The levels are packed with secret rooms and weird little details, like terminals spouting sarcastic error messages. And that soundtrack? Pure synth adrenaline. It’s janky in places, but that just adds to the charm. If you miss when shooters were fast, loud, and didn’t take themselves too seriously, HacX is your time machine.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
