Game Overview

Hal Wrestling came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Human Entertainment. It was one of those early handheld wrestling games, a genre that was still finding its footing on the small screen. You didn't get many options back then, so even a simple grappling game could hold your attention for a while.

You control a single wrestler, moving left and right to grab your opponent and execute moves like suplexes and body slams. The main goal is to pin your opponent's shoulders to the mat for a three count. The mechanics are straightforward: you have a basic attack button and a grapple button, with moves changing based on your positioning and timing. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can spike sharply against later opponents. It feels stiff and a little clunky by today's standards, but landing a big throw has a certain satisfying weight to it.
