Game Overview

Zen-Nippon Pro Wrestling Jet came out in 1994 for the Game Boy, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of portable wrestling games that tried to capture the spectacle of the sport on a small, monochrome screen. You pick a wrestler from a roster of Japanese stars and step into the ring for one-on-one matches.

You control your wrestler with the D-pad and two buttons for strikes and grapples. The main goal is to wear down your opponent's stamina and pin their shoulders to the mat for a three count. Key mechanics include timing your reversals to counter moves and building a special meter that lets you unleash a powerful signature attack. The pacing is deliberate, with a focus on reading your opponent rather than frantic button mashing. It feels like a thoughtful, almost chess-like brawl where every move has weight.
