If you grew up with the Game Boy Color and Harry Potter, this game feels like someone bottled that exact childhood magic. You start off at Hogwarts, running around pixelated hallways that somehow make you feel like you're really sneaking past Filch. The turn-based duels are simple but weirdly satisfying—flinging spells feels like playing rock-paper-scissors if it involved shouting "Flipendo!" at a pixie.

What surprised me was how much it leans into RPG stuff. You level up spells, hunt for beans (seriously, why are there so many beans?), and even get little side quests from Nearly Headless Nick. The potion-making minigame is janky in that nostalgic way where you’re frantically stirring a cauldron before the timer runs out. And yeah, the pixel art holds up—Dumbledore’s sprite has this tiny twinkle in his eye that’s weirdly charming.

It’s definitely not perfect (good luck figuring out some puzzles without a guide), but there’s something cozy about how unapologetically late-’90s it is. You can tell the devs squeezed every bit of Hogwarts charm they could into that little cartridge.
