Game Overview
Hocus Pocus is one of those classic Apogee platformers that feels like it came straight out of a 90s kid’s daydream. You play as this scrawny wizard-in-training who’s basically trying to prove he’s not a total flop—collect enough magic crystals, and maybe, just maybe, the big-shot wizards will stop laughing at you.
The first few levels ease you in with simple jumps and basic enemies, but don’t get too comfortable. Some of those later stages? Brutal. The crystals are tucked away in the weirdest spots, and half the time you’re dodging fireballs or falling into pits because the controls are just slippery enough to keep you on edge.
It’s got that old-school charm though—bright colors, chunky sprites, and this weirdly catchy soundtrack that somehow makes grinding through levels feel like an adventure. And yeah, the whole "marry Popopa" thing is goofy, but honestly? After all that crystal hunting, you kinda root for the little guy.
Definitely a nostalgia trip if you grew up with DOS games, but even now, it’s got this weirdly addictive quality to it.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
