Hugo - Black Diamond Fever is one of those Game Boy Color games that feels like it was made just to put a smile on your face. You play as Hugo, the goofy troll from that European kids' show, racing against the witch Scylla to grab the Black Diamond before she does. The first thing you'll notice is how bright and cheerful everything looks—even the caves feel weirdly inviting.

It's part platformer, part treasure hunt, with little puzzles and mini-games sprinkled in. One minute you're jumping over pits, the next you're pushing blocks or dodging Scylla's ridiculous traps (she really loves throwing rolling boulders at you). Some of the levels get surprisingly tricky, but in that way where you laugh when you fail because Hugo makes this ridiculous face.

If you grew up with the TV show, it's pure nostalgia. If not, it's still a solid little adventure with way more charm than most GBC platformers. Just don't expect anything too deep—it's basically playing through a Saturday morning cartoon.
