Humbug came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Exxos. It was one of those mid-90s puzzle platformers that felt right at home on a DOS machine, simple in concept but built to test your patience and reflexes. You didn't need a fancy setup to run it, just a keyboard and a willingness to fail a lot.

You control a small bug-like creature navigating through a series of single-screen maze levels. Your goal is to collect all the gems in each stage while avoiding traps, enemies, and sudden environmental hazards. The game relies heavily on screen-by-screen exploration, precise movement, and timing-based challenges, like dodging falling blocks or outmaneuvering patrolling foes. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, but the difficulty spikes quickly, punishing any careless move. Playing it feels like a constant, tense negotiation between caution and momentum.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
