Play Hurricanes Online
Dribble the ball, kick enemies, smash crates, and navigate chaotic levels in Hurricanes, a quirky soccer game for SNES from 1994.
Hurricanes came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Arc Developments. It was one of those quirky sports games that tried to do something different on a system already full of platformers and RPGs. You don't see many top-down soccer games with this much environmental chaos, so it always stood out in a rental store pile.
You control one of two players, Cal or Napper, and your main goal is to dribble a soccer ball through a series of obstacle-filled screens before time runs out. You kick the ball to attack enemies and smash crates, which often contain power-ups or keys needed to unlock the exit. The levels are packed with hazards and moving platforms, demanding precise ball control under constant pressure. It feels frantic and a little unpolished, but there's a strange satisfaction in booting a ball into a swarm of bees to clear a path.
