Game Overview
Hyper Olympic (or "Track & Field" outside Japan) is that old-school NES game where you basically destroy your controller trying to win gold. You'll hammer the A and B buttons like a maniac in the 100-meter dash, then immediately switch to carefully timed button combos for the javelin throw. The arcade version has six events—my personal nemesis was always the hammer throw, where the timing feels just slightly off.
It's one of those games where your thumbs ache after 10 minutes, but you keep going because you swear you can beat your high score. The NES version is stripped down compared to some later ports, but there's something pure about the original's brutal simplicity. Just don't play it with a good controller unless you want to wear out the buttons.
