Hyperspeed came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by MicroProse. It was a space exploration and combat game from a time when top-down 2D graphics and keyboard controls were the standard, fitting right in with other sci-fi titles of the era.
You control a lone pilot in a small, upgradable ship, navigating a hostile galaxy screen by screen. Your main goal is to survive, gather resources, and slowly push into dangerous star systems, all while managing fuel and engaging in real-time combat with alien vessels. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense; you spend a lot of time cautiously scouting, deciding when to fight or flee, and making every credit count toward better shields or weapons. It feels like being a scavenger on the edge of space, where one wrong move can end everything.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
