Play HyperZone Online
Dodging neon obstacles at breakneck speed, barely keeping your ship on the glowing track while bosses loom ahead—one wrong move and you're toast. Those repair zones feel like lifelines when everything's a blur.

HyperZone came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, developed by HAL Laboratory. It was one of those early SNES titles that tried to push the system's visual style, offering a fast, colorful rail shooter experience that felt distinct from other launch window games.
You pilot a transforming vehicle called the Runner, navigating through a series of surreal, enemy-filled corridors. The main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. Your ship can switch between three different weapon modes on the fly, each with its own firing pattern and effectiveness against specific enemies. The levels are entirely on-rails, so you only control lateral movement, dodging, and aiming. The pace is relentless, and the difficulty spikes sharply, especially during boss encounters. It feels like a frantic race against the screen, where split-second decisions determine whether you make it through.
