Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for the Nintendo DS came out in 2009, published by Activision. It's a side-scrolling platformer that fits right in with the kind of licensed games you'd find on the handheld around that time, built to tie in with the movie but offering its own simple, straightforward fun.
You switch between characters like Sid, Diego, and Scrat, each with their own movement and attack styles. The goal is to rescue Sid after he gets carried off into a hidden underground world full of dinosaurs. You tilt the DS to roll Scrat like a marble through obstacle courses, smash through platforms with Sid's clumsy strength, and dodge or fight dinosaurs in basic combat sequences. The pacing is a bit uneven, and some jumps feel awkward, but the dino areas are colorful and full of energy. It feels exactly like playing through a goofy, chaotic extension of the film.
