Game Overview

Ever played mahjong but wished it had more neon colors and anime girls? Idol Shisen Mahjong is that weird NES cartridge you find at the back of a thrift store—the one that makes you go "wait, this exists?"

It’s still mahjong at heart—you’re matching tiles, clearing the board—but everything’s drenched in that bubbly ‘80s idol aesthetic. The characters wink at you when you make a match, and the music’s got this synth-pop cheeriness that somehow makes losing less painful. I kept expecting a rhythm game to break out between rounds.

Don’t let the cute facade fool you, though. Some of the later layouts get sneaky, forcing you to actually think instead of just smashing tiles. Perfect for when you want something between "mindless time-waster" and "I need graph paper to solve this."

It’s the kind of game that makes you grin just for existing.
