Game Overview

Igo Club is one of those SNES games that sneaks up on you—it looks simple at first glance, just black and white stones on a grid, but within minutes you're sweating over every placement. The AI isn’t messing around, even on the lower difficulties, and the clean 16-bit presentation keeps things readable without unnecessary clutter.

What surprised me was how well it captures the tension of real Go. No flashy animations or sound effects, just you, the board, and that slow-dawning horror when you realize your opponent’s stones have quietly surrounded yours. The two-player mode’s great if you’ve got a friend who’s equally masochistic.

Definitely not for everyone—if you need explosions or power-ups, look elsewhere. But if you’ve ever been curious about Go, this is probably the most painless way to lose hours to a 2,500-year-old game on your SNES.
