Game Overview

International Soccer Challenge came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Red Rat Software. It was one of many soccer titles from that era, running on hardware where graphics were simple and gameplay had to carry the experience. You got what you paid for: a no frills, straightforward sports simulation that ran on the machines people had at the time.

You control a team of blocky, colorful players, moving them up and down the field with stiff, sliding motions. The main objective is to score more goals than the opposing team within the time limit. Key mechanics include passing the ball between players with a noticeable delay, attempting shots that often feel more like luck than skill, and tackling opponents to regain possession. The pacing is fast, almost frantic, due to the slippery controls and the ball's unpredictable physics. Matches are short but challenging, with a difficulty that comes more from the game's quirks than smart AI. It feels like trying to play real soccer while wearing roller skates on an icy field.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
