Game Overview

"Jacaranda Jim" is one of those MS-DOS games you boot up expecting something simple, then suddenly lose an hour to without realizing it. You play as Jim—this easygoing explorer type who moves like he’s perpetually on vacation, even when dodging traps or stacking crates to reach some hidden ledge. The whole thing feels like someone mashed up an old adventure cartoon with a tropical puzzle box.

The first level throws you right into it: palm trees swaying, weird little creatures scuttling around, and these deceptively simple-looking puzzles that actually make you stop and scratch your head. I remember getting stuck on a vine-climbing section for way too long before realizing I could swing across gaps Indiana Jones-style. The pixel art’s got this warm, slightly sun-bleached look that makes every screen feel like a postcard from 1993.

It’s not brutally hard, but it doesn’t hold your hand either—just the right kind of game to play with one eye on a walkthrough when you really can’t figure out how to open that temple door. If you miss when games were more about charm than polygons, Jim’s your guy.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
