Play Jacaranda Jim Online
Guide Jim through ruins, collect keys, stack crates, swing on vines, and solve puzzles to unlock exits in this classic platformer from 1987.
Jacaranda Jim came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Graham Cluley. It was one of those straightforward platformers from the era, built for systems where keyboard controls and simple graphics were the norm. The game doesn't try to overwhelm you with complexity; it fits right in with the exploratory, puzzle-driven titles that were common then.
You control Jim, an adventurer navigating ruins filled with obstacles and treasures. The main goal is to collect all the keys scattered across each level to unlock the exit. Signature mechanics include stacking crates to reach higher platforms and using vines to swing over gaps or hazards. The pacing is deliberate, and some screens demand careful timing or you'll fall and lose a life. It feels methodical and quietly absorbing, especially when you finally line up a tricky jump or outmaneuver an enemy patrol.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
