Joe & Mac 3 is basically what happens when you take two cavemen, dump them in a jungle, and tell them to go fetch some stolen treasure. It’s the sequel to Caveman Ninjas, but this time they’re swinging through vines and dodging dinosaurs instead of woolly mammoths.

You’ve got your usual caveman weapons—bones, clubs, that sort of thing—but the real fun is in the weird power-ups. One minute you’re tossing boomerangs, the next you’re riding a pterodactyl. The levels are packed with hidden stuff, too, like secret warp zones that skip you ahead (or sometimes send you backward, because SNES games loved trolling players).

It’s not the deepest platformer out there, but the co-op is chaotic in the best way. Just don’t expect the story to make much sense—something about a crown, some gems, and a lot of confused dinosaurs.
