Instead of throwing Poké Balls, you're dialing up monsters on a chunky '90s cellphone—because why not? The battles are faster here than in the Power Version, and the Denjuu designs are this perfect mix of cool and slightly unsettling. That one with the drill arms still haunts me.
The whole thing feels like stumbling into an alternate universe where someone took monster-collecting and ran it through a cyberpunk filter. The music slaps, the translation is gloriously janky (if you've seen the bootleg "Dinosaur Fang" mess, you get it), and there's something oddly satisfying about yelling "EVOLVE!" at your pixelated creatures mid-battle.
