Play Keitai Denjuu Telefang : Speed Version Online
You "call" pixel monsters on a fake cellphone, battle faster than the original, and decode weird summon codes—it’s janky, charming, and totally its own thing.

I first picked up Keitai Denjuu Telefang: Speed Version on the Game Boy Color back in 2000, published by Natsume. It came out during that late handheld era when developers were still pushing the hardware with ambitious, sometimes quirky ideas. This one stood out for its oddball charm and unique premise, even if it never got the same attention as some of the bigger monster-collecting games of the time.
You play as a kid who uses a mobile device to call and befriend creatures called Denjuu, exploring the world screen by screen in a top-down perspective. Your main goal is to build your team, fight through turn-based battles that play quicker than in the original Power Version, and progress by solving environmental puzzles. A big part of the appeal is finding and inputting codes to summon new monsters; it feels a bit like decoding secrets. The pacing is brisk, though some areas can get tricky with random encounters. It’s a little rough around the edges, but there’s a real sense of discovery when you finally add a new Denjuu to your roster.
