Play Killer Instinct Online
Punching a fire guy in the face while a screeching techno track plays—somehow this Game Boy port nails the absurd, combo-heavy chaos of the arcade original. Good luck surviving Sabrewulf’s claws when your fingers can barely keep up.

Killer Instinct on Game Boy is one of those fighting games that just oozes style—even on the tiny screen. You’ve got this dystopian future where Ultratech, a shady megacorp, runs a brutal tournament with fighters who either want to take them down or just survive. The roster’s full of weirdos like a fire guy who’s literally made of flames (Cinder) and a wolfman who probably needs a nap (Sabrewulf).
What makes it stand out is how ridiculous the combos get. You’ll mash buttons thinking you’re doing okay, then suddenly your opponent chains 30 hits together and your health bar evaporates. The "Ultra Combo" is basically a flex—if you pull one off, you’ve earned bragging rights. And yeah, the techno soundtrack somehow works perfectly when you’re getting your face kicked in by a skeleton pirate (Spinal, obviously).
It’s janky in that classic ‘90s fighting game way, but that’s part of the charm. Just don’t expect Eyedol, the two-headed final boss, to go down easy.
