Kiloblaster came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection from Epic MegaGames. It was one of those straightforward, no-frills shooters that felt right at home on a PC in the early 90s, before 3D acceleration and sprawling open worlds became the norm. You just ran the executable and were immediately in the action.
You pilot a small, nimble ship through a series of single-screen levels, clearing each one of all enemies before moving to the next. Your main objective is survival; you blast waves of geometric foes while dodging their precise, often tricky laser patterns. The game's signature mechanics involve collecting quirky power-ups that drastically change your firepower, like strawberries that give you orbiting wingmen or spinach that grants temporary invincibility. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes and memorization of enemy attack routes. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move counts.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
