Game Overview
King Of Fighters 96 on NES is one of those weird bootleg ports where someone tried to cram an arcade fighter into 8-bit hardware. You get the basic idea—familiar characters, special moves, and team battles—but everything feels off. The sprites are chunky, the controls are stiff, and combos barely work.
I remember picking Iori first, expecting his signature flames, but the animation just flickered awkwardly. The CPU either spams the same move or stands there eating hits. It’s playable, but more like a rough sketch of what King Of Fighters 96 should be.
Still, there’s something oddly charming about seeing KoF characters squeezed into NES limitations. Just don’t expect anything close to the arcade version.
