Kung Fu Kid came out for the Sega Master System in 1987, developed and published by Sega. It was one of those side-scrolling action games that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside other straightforward brawlers and platformers of the time.

You control a young martial artist moving screen by screen through enemy-filled stages, punching and kicking your way past thugs and animals. The main goal is to rescue your kidnapped master by defeating a series of end-level bosses. Key mechanics include dodging enemies that approach from behind and surviving seven timed rounds, with later stages pitting you against back-to-back boss fights that really test your timing. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can spike without much warning. It feels like a tense, sometimes frantic scramble to clear each screen before the clock runs out.
