Play Lancelot Online
You charge through castles swiping at goblins with a ridiculous sword, dodging archers and lava pits while the soundtrack flip-flops between heroic and hilariously bad. The princess roasts you for being slow, and yeah, that’s definitely a fire-breathing chicken in armor.

Lancelot came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Level 9 Computing. It was a time when many adventure and action games were pushing the limits of what home computers could display and process, often with mixed but memorable results. This game fits right into that experimental, sometimes clunky, but always earnest era of PC gaming.
You control a knight, moving screen by screen through a castle filled with monsters and traps. Your main goal is to rescue the princess, which involves navigating maze-like corridors, fighting off creatures with your sword, and avoiding environmental hazards like pits and fire. The combat is simple but requires timing, and the exploration feels deliberate as you uncover the layout room by room. It can be unforgiving, with enemies respawning and limited resources making progress feel earned. Playing Lancelot feels like a straightforward, sometimes frustrating, but oddly charming grind through a low-fantasy obstacle course.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
