Laser Ghost came out for the Sega Master System in 1989, published by Sega. It was one of those late 80s arcade-style ports that tried to squeeze a bit more life out of the hardware, offering a home version of the light gun cabinet experience, though here you play with a standard controller.
You control a character moving through a haunted city, shooting ghosts with a laser gun. The main goal is to clear each screen of enemies while avoiding their attacks. Key mechanics include shooting tombstones to reveal hidden power-ups, like rapid fire or screen-clearing bombs, and facing large, screen-filling bosses at the end of stages. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and memorization of enemy patterns. It feels tense and demanding, with each cleared screen offering a brief moment of relief before the next wave closes in.
