Lawn Mower was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it didn't come from a major developer or publisher. It was one of those simple, straightforward titles that filled out shareware catalogs and budget bundles in the early '90s, when not every game needed a complex backstory or cutting-edge graphics to hold your attention.
You control a small lawn mower from a top-down perspective, moving it across a grid-like yard filled with patches of tall grass, rocks, flower beds, and other obstacles. Your goal is to cut every blade of grass before time runs out, which sounds easier than it is. The mower moves in four directions, one square at a time, and you have to plan your route carefully to avoid retracing your steps or getting boxed in. Some objects block your path completely, while others just slow you down, adding a light puzzle element to the otherwise repetitive task. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative at first, but it quickly becomes tense as the timer winds down and uncut patches remain. It feels oddly satisfying to clear a screen methodically, like solving a modest but persistent chore.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
