Liberty or Death came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by KOEI. It was a time when strategy games were starting to dig deep into historical simulations, and this one put you right in the middle of the American Revolution, a conflict not many games touched back then.
You take command of either the American Continental Army or the British forces, managing everything from troop movements and supply lines to political alliances and espionage. The main goal is to achieve military dominance while also keeping your political support stable; lose the confidence of your government, and you could be relieved of command. Key mechanics involve moving regiments across a map of the colonies, engaging in tactical battles on a separate screen, and using diplomats to sway neutral factions. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, demanding careful planning each turn, and the difficulty is punishing if you overextend your forces. It feels like a constant, tense balancing act between bold offensives and cautious management.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
