Llamatron: 2112 came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Llamasoft Ltd. It was part of that wave of early PC games that felt experimental, almost like a digital arcade cabinet squeezed onto a floppy disk. You didn't need a complicated backstory; it was just you, a screen full of geometric shapes, and a very determined llama.
You control a llama equipped with a rapid-fire laser, moving through enclosed arenas. Your goal is simple: survive. Enemies swarm in from all sides, and you must shoot them while avoiding collisions. The screen wraps around, so fleeing off one edge brings you back on the opposite side. Friendly llamas sometimes appear, and shooting one costs you a life. The game moves fast, with difficulty that escalates quickly into visual overload. It feels like trying to solve a puzzle while the pieces are actively trying to knock you over.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
