Game Overview

I picked up Looney Tunes for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a Sunstorm Interactive release that fit right in with the platform's library of cartoon adaptations. It was a time when handheld games often tried to capture the spirit of their source material with straightforward, character-driven action. This one didn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just dropped you into the manic world of Warner Bros. with a handful of familiar faces and let the chaos unfold.

You control different characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Taz across a series of side-scrolling stages, each with their own objectives and movement styles. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage, but you'll spend most of your time navigating platforms, avoiding enemies, and collecting items like carrots or golden records. Some levels have you throwing projectiles, like Daffy's frisbees, while others, like those with the Tasmanian Devil, focus on clearing a path by devouring everything in sight. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially in the chase sequences. It feels like a condensed burst of cartoon energy, unpredictable and a little messy, but full of personality.
