Game Overview

Lord of the Rings: Futatsu no Tou came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by Polla. It was one of those Japan-only releases that slipped under the radar for a lot of Western fans, but it found its way into the hands of import players. The GBA had a solid library of action and adventure titles, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, screen-by-screen approach.

You control Aragorn and Gandalf, switching between them as you explore dungeons and outdoor areas. Aragorn handles close combat with his sword, while Gandalf uses magic from a distance. Your main goal is to collect the pieces of the Triforce-like artifact to progress; each character accesses different paths, so you often backtrack to use new abilities. The pacing is methodical, and some puzzles require careful attention. It feels like a condensed, classic adventure with just enough challenge to keep you engaged.
