Lord of the Sword came out for the Sega Master System in 1988, developed and published by Sega. It was one of those action-adventure titles that tried to bring a bit of that console's growing ambition into a single cartridge, with a focus on exploration and combat rather than just straightforward platforming.
You control a young warrior named Landau, moving screen by screen through forests, caves, and castles. Your main goal is to defeat an evil sorcerer by gathering eight pieces of a mystical sword. Along the way, you use a basic sword attack, collect gold to buy better equipment from shops, and talk to villagers for clues. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with limited health and frequent enemy encounters. It feels like a slow, thoughtful grind where every small discovery matters.
