Lords of the Realm came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Impressions Games. It was one of those strategy titles that felt right at home in an era when players expected depth and a learning curve, not just flashy graphics. You managed a medieval kingdom, and the game asked you to think about more than just battles.
You control a feudal lord aiming to unite England under your rule. You manage resources like wheat, iron, and stone; train soldiers; and engage in tactical siege combat. The game forces you to balance peasant happiness with military expansion, and a poor harvest can lead to rebellion. The pacing is deliberate, with seasons affecting your options and battles resolved on a separate tactical map. It feels satisfying to outmaneuver rivals through planning more than brute force.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
